WRITTEN BY: John Ansah (Regula Rebel)

Lyoni Jones is multi-genre artiste and a songwriter from Ghana. Growing up in Nkoranza, a town in the Brong East region in Ghana, Lyoni Jones had a strong musically inclined childhood that she used to mount pressure on her parents to enroll her in a music band for singing and concert performance tutorship and start singing to be a child celebrity , but her burning tendency for professional singing with a band or as a solo artiste wasn’t given a serious parental consideration until she grew up and she set out to chase her professional music dream in Accra, Ghana’s capital city.

Today, Lyoni Jones is living her childhood dream and in a highly promising turn. She has a musical group called Lyoni Jones Jungle Band, being a live band performer.

Prior to setting up her career professionally, Lyoni started off as a back vocalist for active bands that made internal tours with their lead artistes. Soon she decided to go solo, as she felt the need to serve the world with her very own music and she finally came out solo with a ready heart full of great messages disguised In good music.

In 2017, Lyoni Jones released her maiden single dubbed “Rise Africa”. Sooner she released “Savage Heart” which when the CEO of a charity foundation in Australia heard, he was wowed and contacted Lyoni Jones’ team that he would like to sign her to his charity foundation as his long-term contracted music ambassador for all the foundation’s European music concerts as its headline artiste. Lyoni Jones would have started touring with the charity foundation’s team throughout the whole of Europe from June 2020 according to the contract details, but the COVID19 pandemic imperiled her Euro tour deal due to the global ban on social activities which affected the music industry worldwide. After he worrying COVID19 ban was over, Lyoni Jones again had a deal with the Ghana-based World Star Records and started internal concert tours with them while they were preparing to tour with her and a select few established Ghanaian artistes in Europe and America. Her partnership with World Star Records was short lived due to frequent managerial and VISA issues which were not solved and she had to end the deal with World Star Records. Fortunately for her, she’s been getting foreign tour deals from multiple music concert agencies since 2022 and she’s expecting to tour outside Ghana for more years, seeing her brand is one with a strong international appeal.

After “Savage Heart” in 2017, Lyoni released “Deeply In Love”. Other singles like “Kinky Skanking”, “Beads Talk”, “Mama”, “Dance With Me”, and “Saddest Night”. In 2019, Lyoni released her maiden album dubbed “Lyoni In Me”, a 12-track multi-genre project which was laced world music and reggae tracks.

In 2022, Lyoni Jones won the best reggae artiste of the year at the BAMA Awards in Ghana. BAMA which extends as Brong Ahafo Music Awards is an award scheme to honours musicians whose has any of the towns in Ghana’s Brong East  region as their official origin.

Lyoni Jones’ catalog is very strong and one that is stuffed with great songs that can catapuly brand to international heights. Her signature dress code for concert performances and music video shoots is liked to those of Angelique Kidjo, Wiyaala, and notable African female world music stars.

Lyoni Jones prefers wearing royal African apparels and perform with a live band than miming through her records on stage. These two insistences are a strong double definitions for her brand which she seeks to use it to build a highly respectable music legacy.

Lyoni Jones has very beautiful and ear-pleasing songs. She sings in themes of love, lifestyle, humans rights, motivation, self-empowerment, and other themes that seek to make the world a better place for all humanity.
