Jonas Tetteh Obinya, the assemblyman of Mobole pulled up a surprise buyer support gesture during Minazy Yaazo’s album listening on 17th November with a fifty thousand spot cash wand which he drew out at the purchase spree session of the listening to buy up the album and became the highest buyer of the album of the night.
The core essence of Jonas’ album purchase at that high amount, stems from his profound appreciation of the artiste’s consistent skillful use of the Dangme language as his signature lyrics, his musical career priority to put the Dangme culture on the map through music and his plausible diligence to uphold and continue a unique brand in the midst of many mainstream media temptations that have lured most upcoming Dangme artistes to deny their origin and linguistic authenticity in the name of popular trends and quick acceptance of brands.
In another breath of his enviable high album buy-up, Jonas’ artiste support gesture signals his readiness to rally behind Dangme upcoming artistes that are working hard enough to use music to make a meaningful social change and also hit mainstream. He urged the artistes of Dangme origin to work hard towards a success that transcends Dangme borders.
Jonas Tetteh Obinya, the assemblyman of Mobole, also urged radio stations operating within Dangme communities to support Dangme artistes by playing their music on a daily basis to help spread thier message across.
Minazy Yaazo’s 16-track album is dubbed “Genuine Intentions”. It is laced up with these tracks: “Grave”, “Guide Me”, Asugme Wo”, “On God”, “Akwetey”, “Holy Ghost Fire”, “Wedding Day”, “Carry Me Go”, “Kiss Me”, “Follow Me”, “Onor”, “Daa”, “1971”, “Agama Doku”, “Online” and “Dangme”. Some of the tracks are a blend of Dandme and English.
“Carry Me Go” and “On God” are the lead singles out of the 16-track pack and they’re doing better, getting more listens from loyal and new fans.
Producers Nawtyboi Tattoo, Karis Beats, Qhola Beats and Forqzy worked on the album project. “Genuine Intentions” has guest appearances from Kwesi Amewuga, Wondakid, MC Darling and Kwame Tee. The album project was woven in Hi-life and Amapiano.
“Genuine Intentions” was released on 23rd Novemeber, 2024.
Minazy Yaazo is in deed a clebreated artiste and has a good standing within the Dangme communities when music is the topic. He won the “Artiste of the Year” award at the 2022 Dangme Music Awards. He also an award for the Best “Fanbase of the Year” and another for “Most Popular Song of the Year”.
